LONG Travel Days...

Nannie & Grandpa booked a fun family trip to Florida this year so we could celebrate the holidays together with some warm weather! There were a few hiccups along the way, but we had an awesome time!

Bridget & Kevin's family got to the airport bright and early for their morning flight the day after Christmas, but didn't know exactly how their trip would look...

... apparently, they picked the couple of days that Southwest self-imploded to try to fly out... Their flight was cancelled without notice, but Kevin worked his magic and got them out on a flight that night! Unfortunately, they couldn't leave the airport because they'd had a car service drop them off, so they spent 12 hours exploring Laguardia airport...

Madelyn kept herself busy with gymnastics...

Liam marked the hours by watching his ipad and playing games...

... and Bridget passed the time with wine...

But they finally made it on a flight that night and were ready to get their vacation started!

Meanwhile, Nannie & Grandpa and us caravaned from NC to FL and found just about every other family in America on the same road as us! Holiday travel is no joke, and what should have been an 8 hour trip, took almost 11...

Ben passed ALL 10 hours with Rubik's Cube lessons & made jewelry out of his magnetic beads from his stocking...

He watched Youtube tutorials on the Rubik's cube, tried MANY different methods, and learned how to flip the sides quickly with his fingers... He didn't quite figure it all out, but he didn't give up, and for a noise-sensitive mom in the back seat, it was a LONG 10 hours...

In case you don't fully understand, this video is what a 10 hour car ride with a Rubik's Cube learner looks like... That's right... Have I mentioned it went on for TEN HOURS?!?!?!?...

We were supposed to arrive in Florida at 3pm, but the holiday traffic allowed us to see a beautiful sunset with some views of Florida palm trees!

After picking Bridget and Kevin up from their late flight and sitting in a traffic line at the airport for over 30 minutes, we all finally got to the resort, and checked in despite the fact that the reservation was messed up, causing one more hiccup!

Liam was super excited to organize our snacks for the week and set up the pantry!

We arrived at the resort at night, so we didn't really get to explore the 6 buildings & beautiful grounds, but the the view from our huge balcony was spectacular and we couldn't wait to go check it out in the morning!
