Emily’s Science Fair

I’ve worked very hard for the past month on my science fair project, which was to learn how much light and water that plants need to grow.

I did a great job explaining my project to the judges with a little help from Daddy!

Mommy helped me finish my poster board with pictures and mountings…

My project was set up in the basement, where Daddy helped me build a little “greenhouse” under the stairs. I had 12 plants. 4 plants received light 24 hours a day, 4 plants received light 12 hours a day with the help of a timer, and 4 plants never had any light. Each set of 4 plants got different amounts of water too. One got 4 oz each day, while the others got 2 oz, 1 oz, and no water each day.

This is what my plants looked like when we started: My hypothesis was that the plant with the most light and water would grow the best…

Here are my plants at the end: Too much water or none at all and too much light or none at all did not work very well. What actually happened was that the plants with 12 hours of light and 1-2oz of water grew the best. Now I’m all ready to help mom in the garden this summer!

Our first NC “snow”

Mommy had surgery yesterday, so she wasn’t able to get out and take pictures of our first North Carolina “snow storm”, but a few neighbors sent some for her! It may not have been a lot of snow, but there was a lot of ice, which was perfect for sledding down the big hill with friends and for cancelling school for three days until it melted!

Happy New Year!

We had a blast celebrating our first New Years in our new house! Nannie & Grandpa, and Bridget, Kevin, Liam and Madelyn all flew down to celebrate with us and we had a rockin’ good time! We even all made it up until midnight (except Maddie of course)…

Since we all wanted to make it to midnight, we threw in a rousing game of Pie Face to keep us up!
