Today was a special day for me! I have been in occupational therapy for most of my life for low muscle tone & sensory processing disorder, and now that I’ve met all my goals we set, I get to graduate! I will soon be heading off to Kindergarten with more coordination, better balance, good fine motor skills, excellent social skills, better focus, good ways to cope when I’m overwhelmed, and of course, my good old lovable & goofy personality! I’m going to miss my therapist, but she gave me a special certificate and the ball I wanted from her ball pit! I”m so proud of all my hard work!

I’m not great with loud noises, but I’ve gotten SO much better!
I’ve ALWAYS loved wearing hats and sunglasses, but Mommy loves that little “quirk”
I even love to sleep with my blankets on my head!
I LOVE big bugs, lots of pressure, and laying on TOP of Mommy! Everyone knows me as the neighborhood cuddle bug!
I’ve always tilted my head when I was “thinking” or concentrating hard, and although the therapists say it’s a way for me to “slow down” some of the sensory information coming in, everyone else just says it’s cute
I LOVE things that are cold… especially ice cream and ice!!!!!
Mom learned through my therapy that swinging before I do big activities or when I’m overwhelmed helps me A LOT! We even got our own therapy swing!
I got a cool movable and dark egg chair for my room too!
Some things I’ve been working hard on are strengthening my weak core muscles, improving my coordination, and doing lots of “heavy work” activities before sitting down to focus on a job…
My balance has improved so much that I’ve learned to ride my scooter AND my two-wheel bike!
I even tried rollerskating! (It didn’t go so well, but I tried!)
But my balance is not always perfect…
I‘ve been working on my core strength and am learning how to swim now!
I’ve gotten MUCH better at participating in music class at school and doing things that I don’t really like to do… In fact, I’m actually a pretty good singer, and quite the little comedian!
I’ve worked super hard on my hand strength and writing skills, and I can now even write the whole alphabet!
I’m so proud of myself for all the hard work I’ve done the last two years, and I know I’m just going to keep trying my best and shine like I always do! Watch out Kindergarten… here I come!!!!!
