Week 13: Quarantine Blog

This week was relatively quiet in world news (except for all the rising numbers of Covid cases we're seeing...), but in our house, it was the end of school and the start of summer!

Which Barbie have YOU been in quarantine?????? These are a few that fit our family well...

I have definitely been enjoying exploring baking with sourdough, and this week it was making a pizza crust for a BBQ chicken and gouda grilled pizza!

The only news snippets I saved this week were to show that re-opening hasn't gone too well, especially in North Carolina. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here, but it is definitely concerning to see.

Despite the rising numbers, we are still taking steps to "reemerge" safely, and this week we took some big steps! Abby got to hang out with 2 friends one evening for her good friend's 13th birthday! Armed with a bottle of purell, her mask and strict instructions on frequent handwashing and not sharing food, I had to let her go... I have confidence and continue to pray that my kids will take what they've learned about this virus and do their best to stay safe and healthy. Unfortunately, I can't keep them in my bubble forever...

Emily had a "quarantine-style" graduation from elementary school, with some fun activities, so make sure you pop over to her graduation post to check it all out! Onward to Middle School

Our biggest step in getting out there again was a morning on the lake with my good friends' family. They have a family boat and took us out on the lake for a few hours for some wind in our hair, swimming & "hanging out" with people again. We were very thankful to have this opportunity, and we celebrated the start of summer and Emily's graduation with some cupcakes on the boat! It actually made us all feel pretty normal for a short time!

We hope you all had a great week, and keep staying healthy and safe!
