We’ve been looking forward to the next stop on our family map for a few months now… North Carolina! To make it a little more fun for everyone, and since we had 6 days between closings, we decided to make a few stops along the way…
Once we got word that the walk through on our house was done, we hit the road to start the journey…
The first state we crossed into was Pennsylvania!
And our first official stop was at Hershey’s Chocolate World!
We went on the tour, which was under some refurbishments… but at least we didn’t have to wait in any lines! The place was almost empty!
According to Emily, the chocolate ice cream there is AWESOME!
Abby loved the whole wall of her favorite candy bar!
Next up was a trip into the factory to make our own chocolate bars!
Someone didn’t like the idea of wearing an apron and a hairnet… Can you guess who it was?
Once in the factory, you had to make all of your selections for what you wanted in your bar…
You got to push down the lever to start the making of your very own custom chocolate bar!
We watched our fillings go in and the whole thing get covered in more chocolate!
As they were finishing, we got to design our own covers for our bars!
One last stop was to watch them go through the “packaging” machine where each of our boxes got our names on them.
Back in the car, we get our first gifts of the trip from Mor-Mor. Thank you for sending out all the fun goodies for us to look forward to each day!
We ended our night at a hotel after having a nice dinner. While there, Ben was so excited that the tables had paper on them for him to color, and the waitress said, “I bet your mom & dad don’t let you color on their table!” Emily chimed in… “We don’t have a table… We’re homeless!” The waitress thought she was crazy until we told her she was technically right… That’s our kooky Emily for you!
