We FINALLY got to go to Daddy & Grandpa’s hunting lodge upstate, NY this weekend, and we had an awesome time! We were SO busy riding quads, finding bugs, swinging, making campfires and hiking that our two day trip flew by! We can’t wait to back up again next year!
-Abby, Emily & Ben
EVERYONE loved riding the quads… Abby drove it all by herself, Emily only liked riding the “tiny, bumpy one”, and Ben didn’t love his helmet, so he just liked to sit on the quad (we thought he’d be used to a helmet by now!) Mommy even loved going for some rides in the woods! It was Uncle Kevin’s first trip upstate, and he LOVED riding the quads, but Liam was NOT too sure about it! Maybe when he gets a little bigger…
Mommy packed special backpacks for us with crayons, jars to catch bugs, our cameras, and special “field journals” to keep track of all the cool things we found in the woods! Emily LOVED using her field journal to do leaf rubbings with mommy, and Abby put her jar to good use catching salamanders and frogs!
Ben REALLY loved looking at all the salamanders, almost as much as Abby loved showing them off!
Emily isn’t really a bug & animal person…
We had a great time on the rope swing that was up there too!
So did Aunt Bridget!!!
Can you guess what we had for dinner?????
Daddy cut a lot of wood to keep us warm, and we had a great campfire outside! Uncle Kevin, Daddy & Grandpa even put whole trees in the fire to keep us warm!
We roasted marshmallows…
…and Abby even discovered a new way of being efficient with her roasting… too bad it didn’t work too well…
In the morning, we went on a family hike in the woods! We walked up big hills, over fallen trees & through some pretty deep mud puddles. What could be better than that?!?!?!
Superdaddy!
Mommy brought Ben’s hat since it was a bit cold, but even though he didn’t really like it, it made for some cute pictures!
We had such a great time with our cousin Liam, and we can’t wait until next year when Ben & Liam can run around the place too! I bet those boys are going to get into a bit of trouble up here together!
Thanks for an awesome weekend upstate!
