It was finally time to leave at 2:45am for our couples trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic! Despite our sleepy faces at that time of day, we all managed to show up in matching travel outfits!
Maddie dressed best- for both cold NC and warm Punta Cana (if you don't mind seeing someone taking their pants off in the airport)!
The hotel grounds were beautiful, and although there were several properties we could enjoy, we definitely chose the wrong one to stay at... But we found plenty of awesome things to keep us busy!
We spent WAY too much of our time measuring our drink cups... maybe this is what happens on vacation as you get older 🤷
Nick always loaded up at the buffets, and it didn't bother him at all that he had no idea what he was eating!
Curry and I critiqued the dessert bar, and we finally decided that it just wasn't good...
The weather was beautiful the whole time we were there, and we spent most of our time at the adult only pool or on the beach!
I LOVED getting a fresh coconut with Kari and sharing the 2oz of water inside with each other!
Nick and Maddie did a great job teaching us how to play Euchre in the pool!
We took a crazy, bumpy train ride between resorts to head back and get ready for dinner...
The food was NOT top tier, and the service wasn't great, but it made for A LOT of laughs on this trip!
Curry did get a special birthday dessert and some authentic singing!
Why are all of my friends so tall, and why do they wear heels when I wear flats?!?!?!
A recreation of a picture from our last trip together to Jamaica:
We enjoyed a day out on the water on a party boat, and it was a trip FULL of memories!
We were handed a little toilet paper on our way into the bathroom, and gave soap to wash our hands if we left a tip...
Brian and I enjoyed the snorkeling stop together!
Our next stop was off the shore, where we could hangout in the water, swim, have some drinks, and even hold a few awesome animals for an exorbitant price! (That ok though... I always wanted to hold a monkey)!
Back on the boat, there was loud music, professional dancing, drinks, and not-so-professional dancing...
As you can imagine, a day of drinking out on the ocean was awesome, but there are no pictures from dinner that night... I guess we were exhausted!
The next day we started early with mimosas though and spent the day at the pool in our rented cabana! We enjoyed more drinks, swimming, and some sleeping too!
A quick stop at the buffet for lunch- Nick had no problem eating the unlabeled cuisine, but the rest of us just wanted hot fries and chips & salsa!
Our last dinner together was at their Japanese hibachi restaurant...
Maddie had TOO much in her cabana during the day, and unknowingly ate her whole pile of wasabi... She wasn't happy but it was great entertainment for our table!
The next morning, we were off to the airport, and Maddie was not surprisingly feeling her best... She and Nick fell asleep with sunglasses on BEFORE WE EVEN LEFT THE GATE!!! I guess we may be getting older, but we still know how to have a good time together! I can't wait to see what our next trip will be!
