I feel like we've been anticipating Abby's Exchange experience FOREVER, but part one FINALLY arrived when we went to pick up our awesome student for two weeks! Tya and Abby have been facetiming and texting for months before they met, but it could not have been a more perfect match if we tried!
Both girls were SO excited to finally meet, and we couldn't wait to get her home!
She brought us some delicious goodies from France!
The girls went out after school the first day to raid the grocery store of all the things Tya has seen on TV and Tik Tok that she wanted to try, and a few of our favorites as well!
The second night, we had a welcome dinner for the exchange families at the high school, and it was fun to see how everyone was adjusting...
We got to celebrate Valentine's Day with her here, so there were a few surprises for everyone to enjoy!
Our neighbors even brought over some valentines to share with our family... and Tya too!
The girls enjoyed making some fun valentine's desserts to share as well!
The exchange had a fun dinner for everyone with dinner & karaoke one night!
The girls spent a lot of time showing Tya around our favorite spots... especially Starbucks and Target!
Tya was a great sous chef for Abby on her nights to cook our Hello Fresh meals...
... and Abby was a great baking assistant, reading directions in French and making tiramisu for the family!
We even got the Crumble cookies that Tya couldn't wait to try from our area food drone!
We had quite the options to choose from!
While Tya's class was in DC for 2 days, we were home from school because of snow days, and we lucked out when they called a third snow day on her last day here! We were so happy to spend a little extra time with her, and even had a fun brunch with the neighbors to say goodbye...
The memories we have made these two weeks with Tya as our extra "daughter & sister" will never be forgotten! Although we're pretty sad we won't see her again for some time (we'll try to make it happen soon though), we are so excited Abby's turn to go stay with her in France is coming up soon! Stay tuned for the next update in April when Abby returns!
