Fun at the Franklin Institute

We have been missing our Daddy so much, since he’s been gone for 3 weeks already, and still has 2 more to go, so we decided to drive and meet him for a fun weekend! We met in Philly at the Franklin Institute (their science museum), and then spent a night in a hotel with an indoor waterpark! Mommy didn’t take any pictures of the waterpark since it was so dark, but she made up for it by taking a TON at the museum! We hope you enjoy it almost as much as we enjoyed playing there!

Ben was so excited to see the gigantic steam train engine exhibit!

11

He worked hard trying to pump the pistons!

It was SO cool inside!

Anything with tracks is a hit with him!

Next, we headed over to the space center and got to make our own Mars rovers…

Emily liked trying to steer the satellites….

32

33

34

Abby loved looking for the constellations in the stars…

35

36

Ben’s favorite part in the space center was the exhibit that taught him how high different objects are in the atmosphere… He learned that airplanes don’t go very high at all, and weather satellites go SUPER far!

Abby loved playing with shadows…

… and Emily loved playing with bubbles!

Daddy made a pretty cool fountain, and everyone had fun playing in the water.

After learning about the Earth and the Water, Ben LOVED moving on to the Wind exhibit, and he got pretty good at figuring out which hole the balls would blow out of!

This is Mommy’s only picture of herself of the day, in the house of mirrors with Ben…

59

Everyone loved climbing through the gigantic human heart, and learning about how the blood flows through it and gets oxygen from the lungs…

60

61 62

Ben also loved climbing through the artery tunnels…

63

Moving onto electricity was pretty fun too!

65

66

Look at those “electrifying” blue eyes!!!

67

After electricity, we moved on the nervous system, and learned about how our brains have their own electrical activity!

70

71

72

We got to climb through all of the neurons in the brain!

74

76

78

We learned about all kinds of things that our brain does…

79

80

Our brains do some pretty funny things, don’t they???? Check out these pictures!

82

83

87

After the brain exhibit, we moved on to machines, which Daddy was excited to build with us!

89

90

Emily got pretty good at using the excavator truck controls!

91

92

Ben had a blast too, but what little boy wouldn’t??????

Finally, we headed into the flight center and learned all about airplanes and wind resistance!

102

We made our own paper airplanes…

103

…and even launched them super fast!

104

105

Trying out some “wings” and trying to stay standing with all the wind was really hard!

109

110

112

Ben was the keeper of the map on our trip through the museum, and he did a great job!

What an awesome day to spend with our dad!

123

After the museum, we headed to the hotel, did some swimming in the waterpark, and then snuggled in for a fun movie night together in the room!

124 125

The best part, was that we learned about ROOM SERVICE, and got to have breakfast IN OUR BEDS!!!!

Thanks Mom & Dad for an awesome weekend!
