I’ve worked very hard for the past month on my science fair project, which was to learn how much light and water that plants need to grow.
I did a great job explaining my project to the judges with a little help from Daddy!
Mommy helped me finish my poster board with pictures and mountings…
My project was set up in the basement, where Daddy helped me build a little “greenhouse” under the stairs. I had 12 plants. 4 plants received light 24 hours a day, 4 plants received light 12 hours a day with the help of a timer, and 4 plants never had any light. Each set of 4 plants got different amounts of water too. One got 4 oz each day, while the others got 2 oz, 1 oz, and no water each day.
This is what my plants looked like when we started: My hypothesis was that the plant with the most light and water would grow the best…
Here are my plants at the end: Too much water or none at all and too much light or none at all did not work very well. What actually happened was that the plants with 12 hours of light and 1-2oz of water grew the best. Now I’m all ready to help mom in the garden this summer!
